Before your session

A little prep, a great recording.

You’re booked. Here’s everything you need to walk in ready and make the most of your time in the studio.

Most important

Bring the right storage media.

Your recordings save straight to cards and drives you bring, and you take them home. Here’s what each format needs.

  • Audio recording

Records on the RØDECaster Pro II

    • A microSDXC card, 64 GB or larger (SanDisk Ultra microSDXC or faster)
  • 1080p switched video

    Records on the RØDECaster Video

    • A portable USB-C SSD, 1 TB or larger (Samsung T7 Portable SSD or faster)
  • Separate 4K camera files

Records on the Sony a7 III and DJI Osmo Pocket cameras

    • An SDXC card rated Class 10 with the U3 or V30 logo for the Sony a7 III
    • A microSD card rated U3 / V30 for each DJI Osmo Pocket camera
    • A microSDXC card, 64 GB or larger, for your audio on the RØDECaster Pro II

These are the minimum specs, and faster or larger cards work too. Bring more capacity than you think you need, since separate 4K files take far more space than a single 1080p recording. We check your media during setup before you start.

Bring with you

  • Compatible storage media for your recording format (see the list above)
  • More storage than you think you need, especially for separate 4K recordings
  • Your outline, questions, or script
  • Any guests (up to three people total, unless you’ve arranged a fourth with us)
  • Water to keep your voice fresh

Look your best on camera

  • Solid colors and soft textures photograph beautifully against our blue-gray walls
  • Avoid fine stripes and small checks, which can shimmer on camera
  • Very bright white or neon colors can be hard to light well
  • Noisy jewelry and clothing can be picked up by microphones

Make the most of your time

  • Arrive a few minutes early so setup can begin right on time
  • Sessions end at the scheduled time so the next guest can begin on schedule, so arriving late shortens your session.
  • Plan your episode order if you’re recording several in one session
  • Silence your phones before you start recording

Good to remember

  • A team member sets you up and gives a short orientation, then the room is yours
  • There’s no camera operator, editing, or file delivery
  • Check that your recordings are on your media before you leave
  • Need to reschedule? Use the link in your confirmation email at least 48 hours ahead

Arrival & parking: Directions and parking details are included in your confirmation email.
